Magnum Ballistic Parachutes Offers Wide Range of Parachutes for Light-Sport Aircraft

Melbourne FL / November 15, 2007 - Thanks to Cirrus and Cessna plus dozens of ultralight and light-sport aircraft, many American pilots are well informed about the value of emergency aircraft parachutes. The Cirrus CAPS system is perhaps best known, but another brand is able to supply high-tech parachutes to the Light-Sport Aircraft community. That brand is Magnum Ballistic Parachutes from Melbourne Florida.

"Our ballistic parachutes meet or exceed all available product specifications and are certified under the ASTM industry consensus standards," reported Josef Bostik, director of Magnum Ballistic Parachutes. "Perhaps even more important to designers and operators of airplanes using ballistic parachutes, ours are lighter. For example, our top performing Magnum 601 S-LSA system weighs only 29 pounds, four pounds less than the BRS 1350HS system." He noted this same system is applicable to 4,000 Van's Aircraft RV models flying under Experimental Amateur-Built regulations as the Magnum 601 S-LSA system can handle aircraft weighing up to 1,650 pounds and flying up to 175 knots.

Such impressive performance at such light weight is possible due to HVS (High Viscosity Sleeve) Technology and the use of new Aramid-based materials in the fabric and lines. All Magnum systems are manufactured in the Czech Republic by Stratos07 s.r.o. under the EN ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance Program. For many years, this company has supplied the famous Junkers-Profly Magnum line of Ballistic Parachutes for ultralight aircraft in Europe.

As many buyers of other brands of ballistic parachutes know, service for rocket motors presents challenges with regard to shipping those motors. "Our Magnum rockets are serviceable in the United States," indicated Bostik. "We believe we are the only brand that can perform this kind of service. We have full U.S. Department of Transportation approval and meet all international IATA regulations regarding shipment of rocket motors."
