SULPHUR SPRINGS, TEXAS, JULY 22, 2007 -- American Legend Aircraft Company announced today the installation and availability of an autopilot in its Legend Cub. The installation utilizes the ADI Pilot II from TruTrak Flight Systems.

The ADI Pilot II is a two-axis system to control aileron and elevator operation. The system is GPS-slaved and features solid-state digital gyros. Additional features include a built-in ADI for setting bank angle, pitch, and direction. Extreme bank angle and low airspeed are enunciated on the display. The ADI Pilot II also provides GPS navigation and altitude hold. American Legend Aircraft Company now offers the ADI Pilot II as an option on the company’s popular two-place recreational aircraft, the Legend Cub.

Installation of the ADI Pilot II autopilot includes a 3-1/8” round turn, bank and pitch display that agrees with the artificial horizon, and likewise the real horizon. An LED shows Digital Ground track. Servos are mounted below the seats.

Two American Legend customers have opted for an autopilot-equipped Legend Cub. The first was looking for a new airplane, something to satisfy his desires to fly recreationally. He chose an EFIS system and the autopilot simply to reduce his workload. He commented, “I don’t want stress in my life anymore,” continuing that while flying he just might want to take a break to check the weather. In anticipation of taking delivery of his autopilot-equipped Legend Cub and, for more ephemeral reasons, the second customer, commented “Wicked cool!” This customer no doubt will find good reasons to incorporate an autopilot in future flight plans.
