November 16, 2010 - CubCrafters has added two Certified Build Centers: Zero Gravity Builders Studio, of Richland, Washington, and The CubWorks, of Lewistown, Montana, to their Certified Build Center network.
These facilities provide workspace, tools and assistance to individuals involved in building CubCrafter’s Carbon Cub EX experimental aircraft kit.
Zero Gravity Builders Studio boasts a spacious and modern 14,000 square foot facility. In addition to tools and build assistance (at least five employees are on the floor at all times), they ensure builders qualify for, and receive all documentation required for, amateur-built status. They assist in flight-testing and initial training, and also offer bodywork and painting services. Zero Gravity is also a certified build center for the Lancair Evolution and the Viper Aircraft Viper Jet MKII.
The CubWorks is also set up to assist builders of the Carbon Cub EX, with any combination of options. Expertise is provided in large part by co-owner Noel Simmons, who, to date, has personally constructed thirty-seven aircraft. As a CubCrafters Certified Sales Center they are also qualified to sell and repair all CubCrafters models. The CubWorks teaches flying, tailwheel instruction and transitioning to a new plane.
“Assembling any experimental aircraft requires an investment in time and effort that can prove daunting. That’s where the benefits of a build center really shine. In these well-equipped facilities, builders will find the tools and expertise that make building a Carbon Cub EX a process that instills confidence and self-satisfaction, along with completing the building process in much less time than if undertaken alone.”
ABOUT CUBCRAFTERS
CubCrafters is located in Yakima, Washington and was founded in 1980 by current owner Jim Richmond. In 2007, CubCrafters was issued a FAA Production Certificate and is currently the only aircraft manufacturer in the nation to produce both standard category and light sport category aircraft under an FAA-approved quality assurance program. CubCrafters' roots are in the 60-year history of classic "taildragger" aviation, but its products and services are clearly at the leading edge of technology, utilizing CAD-based design and engineering, CNC tooling and fabrication, lean-manufacturing, and award-winning tube and fabric aircraft restoration.
CubCrafters offers three all new, ready-to-fly aircraft: The SPORT CUB S2 is a thoroughly updated redesign of the classic airplane that inspired the light sport category. The CARBON CUB SS is a stronger and more powerful version of the S2, with 180 horsepower available for take-off and climb, making it the most powerful LSA aircraft in production. The TOP CUB boasts a useful load of over 1000 pounds, making it among the most capable two-place personal and utility aircraft available. CubCrafters also offers the CARBON CUB EX, the lightest, most complete and best engineered Cub kit available.
