South Woodstock, Conn. / June 15, 2007 — Flight Design USA, importer of the country’s best-selling Light-Sport Aircraft, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new regional distributors. Joining the U.S. organization are LSA North and Hillsdale Aero. “The appointment of these businesses reorganizes the northern Midwestern and Great Lake regions of the U.S. to better serve our customers,” expressed Tom Peghiny, president of Flight Design USA.
LSA North serves Flight Design customers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, plus the northern half of Illinois including the Chicago area. They have CTs in stock at this time, have set up dealerships in their region and are seeking additional representatives.
Hillsdale Aero is based in Hillsdale, Michigan, south of Lansing and not far from the American automobile capital of Detroit. The business is operated by James Scheibner who is also the city’s manager of Hillsdale municipal airport, The airport Scheibner manages is currently undergoing extensive improvements to create a new terminal building and new hangars, portions of which will be employed in support of the Flight Design distribution enterprise.
Hillsdale Aero serves CT customers in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. Scheibner has CTs in stock and on order and is presently visiting potential dealers in the territory as part of a final selection process. They invite additional inquiries to serve this active aviation region.
“We welcome LSA North and Hillsdale Aero to our distribution family,” said Peghiny as he noted that this team and their dealers have built the CT into the country’s most successful LSA. “We have more CTs registered than the number three, four, and five sellers of LSA combined.”
Both LSA North and Hillsdale Aero have sent mechanics for extensive training as part of the Flight Design “One Step Ahead” program that thoroughly trains their service organization participants in addition to putting them through qualification and recertification testing.
Flight Design reports nearly 1,000 aircraft delivered since the CT’s introduction in 1997. Approximately 175 CTs have been registered as special light-sport aircraft in the USA. The 98% carbon fiber, two-place CT features a 49-inch wide cabin and 671 pounds of useful load. It is powered by a 100-hp Rotax 912S engine and equipped with a BRS ballistic parachute as standard equipment. With a top speed of 120 knots, CT economy cruises at 112 knots, stalls at 39 knots, and can fly over 1,000 miles nonstop.
